Beach-bag

(for English scroll down)

34 cm lång och 39 cm bred, utan innehåll.
13,5 " long x 15,5 " wide.

Botten:
v 1) *1 rm, 1 omsl, 1 rm* upprepa *-* hela varvet.
v 2 och alla jämna varv stickas rät.
v 3) *1 rm, 1 omsl, 1 rm, 1 omsl, 1 rm* upprepa *-* varvet ut.
v 5) * 1 rm, 1 omsl, 3 rm, 1 omsl, 1 rm* upprepa *-* varvet ut.
v 7) * 1 rm, 1 omsl, 5 rm, 1 omsl, 1 rm* upprepa *-* varvet ut.
v 9) * 1 rm, 1 omsl, 7 rm, 1 omsl, 1 rm* upprepa *-* varvet ut.

I bought 2 balls of Batiko Sun from Schachenmayr through a facebook group and immediately "saw" this lovely bag for summer activities. It's incredibly streeeetchy!

Circle needle/ 5 double pointed needles; 7mm, one ball of yarn and 4 markers is all you need :-)

Cut off a strand of approx 47" for the strap later on (if you wish).

Cast on 8 stiches.

If you use double pointed needles to start with, divide these 8 st in pair of 2 st in 4 needles. If you know how to do the Magic Loop, you already know what to do. Put markers between every 2nd st to make the increases easier.

Bottom
R1) * k1, yo, k1* repeat *-* till end of row (eor)
R2 and all even rows are knitted.
R3) * k1, yo, k1, yo, k1* rep *-* eor.
R5) * k1, yo, k3, yo, k1* rep *-* eor.
R7) * k1, yo, k5, yo, k1* rep *-* eor.
R9) * k1, yo, k7, yo, k1* rep *-* eor.
R 11 - continue to increase every other row until you have 21 st in each double point needle = a total of 84 st. End with a knitted row.

Bag:
R1) * k2 together, yo* rep *-* eor.
R2) knit

Repeat row 1-2 until you have the size you wish. I made 23 rows with holes. Cast off and fasten the ends by sewing a few stitches with needle and thread.

Strap:
I took the last yards to form a simple strap by pulling it through some of the holes on each side, back and forth (7 times). In the last row I made a few knots (in the beginning, approx 4" from start and 4" from end and finally a knot in the end) so the yarn won't start unloosing and become all tangled up. Don't put the knots in the middle of the strap, where you normally put your strap on the shoulder, that not so comfie.

I also put the first bit of strand you cut off, through the holes, to tie with, if needed. It hardly shows in the picture... but the last one, that is packed :-)

The hole-pattern combined with this stretchy "yarn" it gets veeeery stretchy. There's a lot more room than you think :-)
